Settings file are those application that are used for various programs and this cannot be opened manually. The documents are generally saved in text formats and due to this reason it is generally viewed by text editor. Not only is this but important files can also be stores that may have private keys and passwords, signatures and many more important documents.
But unfortunately due to corruption these important documents can become inaccessible. But this does not mean that the problem cannot be resolved it can be done, as such the corruption can be resolved and then user will have to restore the documents with the help of updated backup and then can access the documents easily.
.cfg – It is also known as “Configuration File” It is generic preference files that are helpful various programs and should not be opened manually. It is generally saved in the text formats that are viewed by the text editor and sometime it may also be deleted to show program settings. It supports Mac OS and Windows operating system.
.ini – It is also popular as “Windows Initialization File” and is configured files that can be used by Windows program to initialize the program settings and preferences. It can be edited with plain text file editor. It can also be replaced by XML Files. It supports Windows operating system and Mac OS.
.keychain – it is also known as “Mac OS X Keychain File”, it is helpful in storing the authentic data like certificates, private keys and password. It can be used to authenticate users after they have checked the option to remember the authentic information. It is supported by Mac OS.
.prf – It is also known as “Outlook Profile File” It is a user profile that has been referenced by the MS Outlook. It contains user information and preference that includes signature, mail account and many more settings. It supports Windows operating system and Windows OS.
