Executable Files
Executable File is the file format that the computer can directly be executed. It is different from source file, executable file cannot be read. In order to transfer source file in executable file it is important to pass it through an assembler or compiler. It is used to perform the indicated task that is also according to the instruction. It is more specifically called scripts or byte code.
But there are situations in which the file may get corrupted possible reason for the corruption may be because of hard disk malfunctioning, virus attack, software error and many more……… as corruption occurs the files and folders become inaccessible. But this does not mean that the corruption cannot be resolved it can be resolved efficiently.
Some important extensions that are used in Executable files are as follows:
.app – It is also known as “Mac OS X Application”, it is Mac OS package hence can be used by double click, it will show package content that is helpful to view files that are contained in the package. It supports Mac OS.
.bat – It is also known as “DOS Batch File”, it is used to run the command with Windows command, it contains a series of line command that enters in the DOS command prompt. It is manually created and edited to automate tasks that perform repetitive operations. It supports Windows operating system and Mac OS.
.cgi – It is also popular as “Common Gateway Interface Script”, it is used in C programming language and is stored in the “cgi-bin” in the website directory on web server. It supports Windows operating system, Mac OS and Linux.
.com – It is also known as “DOS Command File” It is an executable program but is typically smaller and use more basic syntax without any metadata. It is a full-fledged program that is written in MS-DOS but can also be executed in Windows. Thus supports Mac OS and Windows operating system.
.exe – It is also known as “Windows Executable File”, it has self extracting archive that runs when opened for every windows file that runs in .exe. It is a common installer that includes Windows software. This application supports Linux, Windows operating system and Mac OS.
.pif – It is also known as “Program Information File” that contains information used by Windows to run certain program. It is originally used by MS-DOS and can serve as shortcut executable file. It supports Windows operating system.
.vb – It is also known as “VB Script File” it is written as VBScript scripting language that can be executed in Windows by using built-in script support. It supports Windows operating system.
.ws – It is also known as “Windows Script”, it is executable script that has the capability to incorporate Jscript and VBScript. This may include XML element. It supports Windows operating system.
