Encoded Files

Basically encoded files are compressed files that are used in binary format. It is used to store important data that are ensured in the form of Hierarchical File system. It main purpose is to transfer the data all over the internet easily. Generally it is used by email programs and is in the form of encoded file. It can also be used on UNIX platform to prevent files from corruption.

But after taking many precautions there are some situations in which the encoded files become corrupt. Possible reasons of corruption are virus attack, hard disk malfunctioning, software error, human error and many more. Due to this reason it becomes difficult to access the saved data or files. But corruption problem can be resolved efficiently and then user will only have to restore entire data with updated backup.

Some important extensions that are used in Encoded Files are as follows:

     

.bin – It is also popular as “Macbinary Encoded File”, it is the compressed file that are the form of encoded and is used in binary or Macbinary and is used to store the finder header, resource fork, data fork and at the same time also ensures Hierarchical File system. All are kept in single file and is commonly used to transfer Mac files all over internet. It supports Mac OS and Windows operating system.

.hqx – It is also known as “BinHex 4.0 Encoded File”, it is used in Mac computers to create binary to Hexadecimal text file. Basically it contains those data that are compressed and encoded from 8-bit binary format into 7-bit text format. Not only is this but it can also be useful to transfer documents, binary images and multimedia as text. It supports Windows operating system and Mac OS.

.mim – It is also known as “Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Message File”, it is used by email programs and is in the form of encoded file. It contains 8-bit data and many other characters besides US ASCII character set. It supports 8-bit content like file attachments in place of 7-bit messages that are normally used in email. It supports Mac OS and Windows operating system and Linux.

.uue – It is also known as “Uuencoded File”, these are those files that are used to convert a file from binary file format to text format that are often used as email documents. It is used on UNIX platforms in order to prevent the files from getting corrupted. It supports Linux, Mac OS and Windows platform.
